Stream restoration and water resources engineering

At WaterVation we focus on providing innovative solutions to stream restoration problems in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska. Our core service areas include watershed assessments, watershed planning, and stream restoration design.

Innovative and sustainable solutions to stream restoration problems.

We are dedicated to innovative and adaptive design solutions to solve water challenges. Our clients are partners, and we believe that great collaborations are part of successful project delivery. We care deeply about the unique river systems that we work in and model our designs towards sustainable restoration and conservation outcomes. We are constantly striving for excellence in everything we do.

Recent projects

Our lifecycle design processes consists of collecting our own field data, developing restoration designs, and construction oversight. Involvement in all three phases provided invaluable experience and ability to see through design and construction challenges. These experiences and lessons learned allow us to improve each subsequent design for enhanced constructability and sustainability.

Sunlight Creek Stream Restoration

This area has been plagued by extreme lateral channel migration over the past 40 years which has been caused by changes in land use practices and exacerbated by subsurface irrigation return flows.

Wetland impacts associated with the expansion of the Jackson Hole Airport required that 0.3 acres of wetland be mitigated. WaterVation was hired by JViation and the Jackson Hole Airport to identify and develop a wetland mitigation plan in Grand Teton National Park (GNP).

Project objectives consisted of removing a push-up dam, providing continuous fish passage, preserving existing water rights for the ditch diversions, restoring the diversions, and implementing a low maintenance natural channel restoration design for a total stream length of 1,500 feet.
