Left Hand Creek Habitat Restoration | Longmont, CO

  • CLIENT:  AloTerra Restoration Services

  • PROJECT TYPE:  Stream Restoration

  • PROJECT LOCATION:  Longmont, Colorado

WaterVation was hired by AloTerra Restoration Services to develop natural channel design plans and two fish passage structures for a private property owner in Longmont, Colorado. This project reach is about 0.66 miles in length and is constrained by two ditch diversions. The property owners wanted to restore the stream morphology and riparian corridor for this section of Left Hand Creek to natural conditions using a little structure as possible. A bedform grading plan was developed to restore the channel profile and the channel planform was controlled using strategic placement of toe wood. Fish passage at the ditch diversion was restored using two step-pool structures that blended in with the natural characteristic of Left Hand Creek.
